It's a good thing I know the guy in the lobby is talking about an MMO, since he's jabbering into his phone about storing weapons and buying explosives. Context is very important when I can hear a guy discussing things like that.

I have a Gamecube! I've actually had it for about a month now, and I was so happy to find it for cheap at Gamestop. And I have Zelda: Wind Waker, but no other games for that particular console. What games are good for the GC? I NEED RECS so I won't just have a one-game-console thing going on.
Games I know of:
Tales of Symphonia
Fire Emblem 9
Baten Kaitos
There has to be more than that!

House Minority Leader John Boehner has recently claimed in an interview that "I'm still trying to find the first American to talk to who's in favor of the public option, other than a member of Congress or the administration". I left him an email over here regarding that particular topic.
( email under the cut )
In other news, I got the Swap Magic disks in the mail a few weeks ago along with the Magic Switch doohickeys that you put in the PS2 to get the disks to work in the first place. They worked fine and dandy for a while, then only half the time, and now not at all. Ho hum. Maybe I should get the flip-top lid thing and try that, since apparently it works better?

My boss: Why do you always try to put them in 206?
Me: Well, you told me that I shouldn't put locals in the front rooms, and that's one of the best ones in the back.
My boss: What?
Me: So I try to put them there.
My boss: You know what I mean by locals, right? I mean black people.
Me: ..........
I just. What?

So a friend of mine is reading The Book of Erotic Fantasy, and felt the need to tell me about it on gchat. His conclusions?
I. This is amazing. I suddenly want this book.
Brandon: Based on pure appearance, a human is more likely to wanna go down on a Dire Wolf than a Nymph would be to fuck a human.
andBrandon: Oh, and Vampirism can be transfered via sex.
Apparently
Vagina Dentata~

I FINALLY FINISHED TALES OF LEGENDIA. BE PROUD. This is the second PS2 game I've ever finished.
Oh, and does anyone have some simple recipes they'd like to share? I'm in the mood to try new things, but I don't have a kitchen. What I do have is as follows:
A fridge
A freezer
A microwave
A George Foreman grill
A crockpot
A portable stove burner that you plug into the wall
A frying pan
A pot
I'm not looking for anything in particular, but I'm getting kind of tired of the things I've been eating for the last year.

There is something entirely offputting about having a grown man walk into the lobby at work, point at me, and go "Mommy?" I still have no idea how to react, and it happened hours ago. Was he asking if I was his mother? Was he asking me to be his child's mother? Does he just like confusing random people in lobbies? The world may never know.
On an entirely unrelated note, does anyone know anything about overstockdistributing.com? I've been looking into buying Swap Magic disks since my last post, and they seem to have the best prices. Are they legit? They're a good ten dollars cheaper than anyone else, but I'd like to know if anyone else has tried them before giving them my money.
[EDIT] Or gocybershop, for around the same price? This one looks a little more legit.

I was thinking about import gaming a couple days ago, and vaguely remembered having fun trudging through the first few hours of the Japanese PS2 port of Tales of Symphonia back when I could barely understand katakana, so I went and looked up those disk things that I vaguely remembered having to use in order to play the game in the first place. Does anyone know much about those? It looks like there are different disks for different regions, but I could easily be wrong on that one. I assume I'd have to get the "Swap Magic 3.6 Japan Version" in order to play imports on my PS2, but I'm not positive. Any advice for the curious out there?
I will learn this import gaming thing!

I don't believe I'll be reading any books by John C. Wright any time soon. There are comments in that post that made me too angry for words.
[EDIT] So first he deleted comments to his post, and then he disabled comments entirely. Now he's deleted the post itself. Stay classy, Mr. Wright.
[EDIT 2] Someone on the internet did a copypasta of the post in question here.

Why didn't anyone tell me that Jigoku Shoujo was so pretty? I've only watched three episodes, and I'm hooked! The art is gorgeous and the individual stories are (mostly) not overdone, so this series has my seal of approval. I had a couple squick moments in the second episode, but they weren't enough to get me to stop watching.
I'm only three years behind the rest of the world! One day I'll watch a series during the year it comes out. Really.

I found a note at work today, written on one of those tiny little keycard envelopes.
DO NOT DISTURB
Sumo wrestler
in training.
Getting massage
by midget while
eating a plate
full of hard
boiled eggs.
Hello Mandy.

I can only hope this note was a joke aimed at Mandy or something.

Today, I woke up to the police banging on my door, with angry shouts of "Open the door!" ringing through the air.
( And this is why! )
And that is the story of how I woke up today!

This morning, hundreds of Amazon Kindle owners awoke to discover that books by a certain famous author had mysteriously disappeared from their e-book readers. These were books that they had bought and paid for—thought they owned.
Basically, Amazon deleted a bunch of ebooks off of people's Kindles, and credited the price of the ebooks back to their accounts. Why is this concerning? Amazon did this without letting people know that they were going to do this, saying they were being pressured by certain publishers who changed their minds about electronic versions of their books being sold.
The best part of this mess? The ebooks that were deleted were copies of George Orwell's Animal Farm and 1984.

It is 9:30 a.m. So far today, I've:
Hell yeah, insomnia!
- Gone out for breakfast
- Gone grocery shopping
- Chatted with coworkers
- Cleaned my bathroom
- Completed one load of laundry
- Changed my sheets
- Started another load of laundry
Hell yeah, insomnia!

I made this post at one in the morning on Thursday, and ordered DDS1 an hour or so later. The confirmation notice told me to expect it on July 1, a week later. It showed up in the mail on Friday, and I didn't notice until today. Hooray for games showing up five whole days early even if I didn't know about it until today!
And now I have to wait for the second half of my shift to end so I can go play it. Haha, I can hardly wait!

Digital Devil Saga 1 vs Persona 4. Which should I buy? I want both, but they're both on the pricey side. And does anyone have any recommendations for cheap PSX/PS2 games?

South Carolina State Governor Mark Sanford disappeared on Thursday of last week, and didn't tell anyone where he was going. This isn't the first time he's done this -- he came back from Europe a few weeks ago, and no one had a clue he was even out of the capitol. Then he missed Father's Day, which raised some eyebrows. Eyewitnesses said he was last seen somewhere near Atlanta! Then a couple days later, one of the guys working for him said he was totally hiking in the Appalachians for Hike Naked Day, but no one could confirm this since no one was actually in contact with him! Rumors and jokes were flying around like crazy.
Then he came back last night, saying he had needed a quick vacation, and had been driving along the coast of Argentina. And now? He admits he was having nookie with an Argentinian woman. And now there are stories floating around that he's been using taxpayer money for his random secret trips to China, Europe, and Argentina. Somehow, I distinctly doubt he's going to be running for president in 2012 like people were assuming he would.
My state governor, ladies and gentlemen!

List 12 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.
Kyou Kara Maou: Anissina von Karbelnikoff
Sei So Tsui Dan Sha: Ogura Kyoko
Seikon no Qwaser: Eva Silver
Alive: The Final Evolution: Mama
Tenjou Tenge: Bob Makihara
Shaman King:Ryu Iron Maiden Jeanne
Fullmetal Alchemist: Olivia Armstrong
Mirai Nikki: Gasai Yuno
Ah! Megami-sama: Hild
M*A*S*H: Hawkeye Pierce
Gargoyles: Demona
Suikoden: Gremio
I upped the count by two, since I needed a video game in the list for it to feel right.

People applying for jobs with the city of Bozeman, Montana, are now being asked to list their memberships in online forums and social networks, and to provide all user names and passwords required to access their accounts.
Well, that isn't disturbing at all! And to add insult to injury, the new applications only give three lines for all the URLs, usernames, and passwords an applicant may or may not have. Three! Is there anyone on the internet who only has three accounts total? I lost count of how many accounts and usernames I've registered ages ago. The article goes on to say that they're doing this so only those with good moral fiber will be hired, and that no one will go looking for private information, but if that were the case then why get passwords?
